Pope Francis' funeral: "A remarkable day," says Ciciliano

"It was a remarkable day," declared Fabio Ciciliano, the Head of the Civil Protection Department. "We witnessed great participation from both Roman citizens and pilgrims from around the world who came to bid a final farewell to His Holiness Pope Francis. Four hundred thousand people shared a historic and emotional moment, and thanks to everyone's efforts, the day proceeded solemnly and peacefully without any issues. I would like to personally thank the entire National Civil Protection Service, especially the three thousand volunteers on the front lines who assisted the faithful with their generosity and compassion. This achievement results from an extraordinary team effort developed in close collaboration with the Prefecture of Rome and all involved parties."

The Head of Department then added, "While this day is filled with emotion, we must not forget that the National Civil Protection Service will continue its commitment in the coming days. We will support the ongoing Jubilee for Adolescents until the celebration of the Mass that inaugurates the new Pope's pontificate."
