Structure

The latest change to the internal organization of the Civil Protection Department has been in effect since February 1, 2025. This change was enacted by a decree from the Ministry for Civil Protection and Sea Policies, which was signed on December 18, 2024, and repealed the previous decree.
The Department is divided into Units and Offices. Under the direct authority of the Head of Department are Secretariat Service of the Head of Department, the Press Office, the Communication Unit, the Institutional Relations and Initiatives Unit, the Legal and Legislative Activities Unit, and the Litigation and Transparency Unit, the Organizational Unit responsible for functions related to the NRRP and theTemporary Support Structure related to the phenomenon of bradyseism in the Phlegraean Fields. The Head of the Department is supported by a first-level Executive Officer, who assists with advisory, study, and research tasks and collaborates directly with a Legal Advisor.
In the event of the Head of Department being absent, on vacation, or otherwise unable to perform their duties, the Deputy Head of Department will assume the responsibilities and functions of the Head of Department, carrying out specific tasks delegated by the Head of Department to ensure continuity in the coordination of the National Service and the direction of the Department.
The Emergency Management Office supports the Department Head in coordinating and providing unified direction for emergency activities.
The Department includes seven additional Offices, divided into Units: Office I – Volunteering, Traning and Assistance; Office II - Risk forecasting and prevention; Office III - Emergency Recovery; Office IV - Technology Innovation and Telecommunications; Office V - International Activities and Relations; Office VI - Human and Instrumental Resources; Office VII - Administration and Budget.
