The Office IV - Technological Innovation and Telecommunications:

  1. manages the technological support to the Department's information systems, ensuring their IT security and enhancing cyber resilience;
  2. oversees the development and implementation of telecommunications systems during emergencies, as well as data transmission systems and both fixed and mobile telephony;
  3. coordinates the Department's activities within the national IT-alert public warning system and the technological components of other early warning systems for the population or civil protection authorities.

The Information Systems and Network Infrastructures Unit is in charge of: 

  1. planning, design and implementation of information and mapping systems and management of the Department's IT security systems;
  2. management of development activities, integration, interoperability with the national open-data platform and implementation of departmental databases and territorial information systems;
  3. development of organisational models and procedures to promote IT redundancy and systems efficiency;
  4. planning and management of activities aimed at ensuring the operational continuity of departmental information systems;
  5. support for activities outside the departmental offices during emergencies relating to information systems.

The Emergency Telecommunications Unit is responsible for:

  1. development of organisational models and procedures to facilitate the operation of the National Service's telecommunications in emergencies;
  2. planning the use and management of the Department's equipment and technologies competing in the governance of the emergency radio and satellite communications system;
  3. management of communication infrastructures, including fixed and mobile telecommunications systems;
  4. design, planning and implementation of alternative telecommunications systems to be used in emergencies;
  5. support for activities outside the Department's headquarters during emergencies relating to telecommunications.

The Warning Systems Unit deals with:

  1. planning and management of activities related to the technological systems for warning used by the Department;
  2. planning and management of activities related to the national public warning system IT-alert;
  3. planning support activities for the administrations and authorities managing the national public warning system, IT-alert, and other early warning systems for the population and civil protection authorities.
